Marine Corps Legacy Museum Display Plan

  1. Joint Service. A display of all branches of the American Armed forces Dress Uniforms. Presented to credit the fact that America needs all of her military branches in order for her to remain a free, strong state.

  2. A historical overview of the development of Marines world wide. This display will depict Roman Marines through a display of current issue British Royal Marine uniforms and equipment.. It shall also include a display of Marine Corps, or same mission units of other countries emblems.

  3. Inception of America's Marines. Revolutionary War.

  4. Development of USMC from end of Revolution to the American Civil War. This display will cover the War of 1812, Tripoli, Indian Wars, War w/ Mexico and Commander Perry's expedition.

  5. Civil War, two Marine Corps. This display will cover Harper's Ferry, Drewrey's Bluff and the battles of this period for both Corps.

  6. Colonial USMC. This display will cover gunboat diplomacy, the Spanish American War, Philippine Campaign, Boxer Rebellion and the "Banana" Wars.

  7. World War I

  8. 1919 to 1939. "State Department" Troops. Missions and actions to be shown here are the Marines guarding the US Mail, China duty, and the additional actions in the Banana Republics.

  9. World War II beginning. Here we will display the Marines in Iceland, Wake, Corregidor, Midway and Pearl Harbor. The expansion of the Marine Corps to meet the the necessities of a world wide conflict.

  10. World War II Offensive. Island hopping campaigns through the occupation of Japan and the return to China.

  11. 1945-1952, the Korea "Police Action"

  12. 1953-1965, more police actions. Lebanon, Dominican Republic, Suez, and Morocco.

  13. The Vietnam War 1965-1975. Marine Corps involvement from the beginning to the evacuation of Saigon and the Mayaguez.

  14. 1976-1998. Beirut, Grenada and Kuwait. A ready and relevant Marine Corps in a changing, post "Cold War" world.

  15. Marine Aviation and The Exploration of Space.

  16. Woman Marines.

  17. Black Marines.

  18. Special Marine units. The Raiders and Para-Marines. Reconnaissance and Special Marine Air Ground Task Forces. The Marine Snipers, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and the Chemical, Biological Reaction Unit.

  19. Marksmanship.

  20. Recruiting.

  21. Officer Basic Training and Enlisted Boot Camp.

  22. Officer and Enlisted Swords, Inception and customs of use.

  23. Bands and Music in the Marines.

  24. U.S.Navy- will document the contributions of Navy Corpsmen, Chaplains, Seabees, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

  25. Humanitarian and Special Missions. Disaster Relief, Fire Fighting, Noncombatant evacuations, Oil spill clean up, and Tactical Recovery Aircrew Platoon will be some of the actions performed by Marines which will be covered here.

  26. A wall display of Marine Corps Heroes, Medals of Honor holders, and a display of all U.S. and common foreign medals authorized for the Marines with appropriate information for each.

  27. Prisoner of War- Will portray Marines who have been detained as prisoners of war and the development of the U.S. Code of Conduct.

Finally, plans are in work for the acquisition of several Marine Corps antique aircraft, Amphibious tractors and artillery pieces.
